It is Independence Day! That's another name for the holiday that many of us call The 4th of July. The 4th of July is a day set aside to celebrate our independence in the United States of America. Many people have picnics and watch fireworks light up the skies.
Some people call the 4th of July "America's birthday". People in America used to have to follow the rules Britain told them to, but on Independence Day it was decided that America would be free to make its own set of rules.
Today I will be going to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to visit my brother. I am going to have to find something red, white and blue to wear! Those are the colors of our American flag, remember? Are you wearing red, white and blue today? Maybe you can teach your family how to say the Pledge of Allegiance like we learned at school!
Leave a comment and let me know what you did to celebrate. I hope the rain stays away for part of today!
Hello Ms Tricarico. Happy 4th of July. My summer is going well. I spend lots of time playing outside and swimming. I have learned to swim all by myself. I have been doing work every day with my mom or sister so that I stay smart and get ready for first grade. I have also been working on my reading. Yesterday I read my sister a Dora book and she was really proud of me. I hope your dad is feeling better. Have a fun day.

It sounds like you are going to be perfectly ready for first grade as long as you keep up the great work! I am just as proud of you as your sister is. My dad is doing really well. Thank you for thinking of him. I miss you tons.
